When you and I are saved—born again by the power of God—the direction of our lives changes. We are on our way to Heaven. The problem is the sinful nature has not yet been done away with. We still have one. It is like an incurable but treatable disease; we can get rid of it, but we can sure keep it under control.
That’s were the stuggle of life comes in. The devil loves to distract saved, born-again children of God. He uses his demons to tempt you, to distract you, to pull you down morally and spiritually. And he works hard to convince you of any kind of lie so that you will compromise and turn from walking with God. This almost always involved immorality of some kind. But it may be just a sense of materialism or desire for wordly accomplishment that leaves God out of the picture. When the devil is successful, his victim is left empty and abused; sometimes injured or even dead.
I have heard the BIG LIE repeated so many times: “I have sinned to much. I am not good enough for God. I turned away from Him; He doesn’t want me anymore.” But that is so far from the truth. God cannot stop loving and reaching out to you. It’s not in His Nature. And if He did, Satan could accuse the Lord of being unrighteous. When you turn back to God with a sincere heart, God is right there to forgive everything. Remember, Jesus paid for it all. No matter what you have done or how many times you have failed, Jesus paid for you. And the Bible teaches that God is satisified with the punishment that was dealt His Son. That means, that when you return to Jesus Christ, God is satisfied. It is just like you never went astray. That is what the Bible teaches. That is the truth.
Prayer this prayer with me and mean it from your heart. God accepts heartfelt prayer.
Lord, I am sorry for turning back into the world. Forgive me my sins. I renew my commitment to Jesus Christ and give you my heart afresh. Jesus is my Savior and Lord. And with the help of your Holy Spirit, I will remain true to you for the rest of my life. Thank you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
If you prayed that prayer and meant it, then I can truly say, “Welcome back to the Family, child of God.” Get into God’s Word. Reach, especially the New Testament. And get into the habit of praying and attending worship services. Be sure to make friends with committed Christians—it will help you.
God bless you, and may the rest of your life be blessed of the Lord.
