I Was Born for a Purpose

Certain people come along, and it looks like they were just born “Somebody.” Whether it was President George Washington, who help in birthing a nation, or Rev. Billy Graham, who has for over 50 years helped to birth souls into the nation of Christ, or the well known Mother Teresa, the Catholic Nun who worked among the poorest of the poor in India for decades. When you see some people shine, it is tempting to think, “That’s them. I’m just an ordinary person.” However, each of these great people were ordinary people before they started their work. What made them great?

You may not know it, but God has a purpose for your life—a great and important purpose. It may be in the public view, like Washington and Graham, or it may be in a private setting, like Mother Teresa. You may have a career, or be a mother at home. But no matter what your situation, your life is very important to what God has called you to. Scripture says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he who keeps the law, he is blessed” (Proverbs 29:18 MKJV). The writer is equating keeping the law with having a vision. The point is that you must keep a healthy vision of God’s purpose in your life. It helps you in your life’s choices. It helps motivate you to keep God’s Word, which then causes you to be blessed of God. It makes your life great in the eyes of God, who sees and knows all things, both public and private.

Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” We were called to be saved. And if I have Christ in my heart, then I have purpose.
