How to Become a Christian

If you have never committed your life to Jesus Christ (i.e., become a Christian), all you need to do is ask Him from your heart to forgive you of your sins. Then, with His strength and help inside you, turn your life around.

The following verses of Scripture will help you understand that God loves you and wants to forgive and save you:

"All have sinned and come short of God's glory" (Romans 3:23).

"...him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out" (John 6:37).

"...Whosoever will, let him take the water of life [i.e., salvation] freely" (Rev. 22:17).

"Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered" (Joel 2:32).

You may pray the following words. (The exact words are not as important as you meaning them from your heart when you pray. Put your heart into this prayer.)

Dear Heavenly Father, I ask you today to forgive me of all my sins. Your Word says all have sinned and come short of your glory. That includes me. I receive the forgiveness that your Son, Jesus Christ, purchased for me by His death on the cross at Calvary. You said that without the shedding of blood there is no removal of sins. Jesus gave His life's blood on the cross to make me clean from my sins, and I receive that forgiveness right now. I receive your Holy Spirit into my life to live in me, and to lead and guide me in my Christian walk from this day forward, in Jesus' name. Amen.

If you prayed that prayer from your heart, then you are a Christian, born again by God's Spirit. The Holy Spirit has come inside to live within you, birthing a spiritual nature in you. I pray that God will guide you and help you in this Christian walk for the rest of your life, giving you wisdom and understanding of living in a relationship with Him.

As a new Christian, I would like to refer you to a good, Bible-oriented local church. Keep looking until you find one, and then become an active part. It will help you grow in your Christian walk.

God bless you and yours,
Pastor Wayne Parks
